“isn’t she your girlfriend?”

I don’t want to do this, Elena. I’m not that good guy, remember? I’m the selfish one. I take what I want. I do what I want. I lie to my brother, I fall in love with his girl. I don’t do the right thing. But I have to do the right thing by you.
ELENA GILBERT APPRECIATION WEEK
- Day 2 - favorite Elena scene/moment
I couldn’t pick just one so I chose these two moments. The first is my favourite because well, Elena is an orphan. She lost her parents and she got the chance to know her biological parents. I guess she was really curious about them and she surely had expectations - expectations that got broken the moment she met Isobel. She didn’t really care about meeting her daughter, she wanted the device and she did everything to get it (threatening Elena’s friends and family). I can only imagine how disappointed but also sad Elena must have been in that moment. But she got strength. She hold dear to her real mother’s memory and she faced Isobel. The second scene always makes me cry. Jenna is the last parental figure that Elena (and Jeremy) had. Elena was ready to sacrifice herself, the only condition was that her friends and family should have been out of the equation. She gave herself over to Klaus to protect them. Not only she had to die, but she also got to see her aunt being killed in front of her eyes. But again she had strength. She faced Klaus, no fear, and she told him to go to hell (I can’t even describe how much I loved Elena in that moment).
“It’s not just that she makes him a better person, and she does.”
now think about the fact that while he was going through his existential crisis, he went back to the place where he first met Elena.
